I went to my first spin class to se what it was all about and thinking, "How hard can this be?" I discovered quickly this was much harder than I thought! 45 minutes later the class ends and I can barely walk but it motivated me to return. It became something I did several times a week and led me to other fitness events and changed my lifestyle.
I then decided I wanted to share this new passion and at the same time help charities raise general funds. The idea was to create a fun event that would get people together for a common good and have fun while introducing people to each other, to fitness and engage with local charity. The plan was straight forward, get a local spin school to donate bikes for the day, work with a local charity, greek organizations and local media.
I worked for 3 years until I finally found CycleBar in Dallas that wanted to be a part of the event and we created the first 2 events in conjunction with EarthX, the counties largest Earth Day event.
That event led to another on in Los Angeles where we had great sponsors like Pabst Blue Ribbon, WeWork, Flywheel and many more. Seeing the people having fun riding for charity then enjoying a cocktail hour and raffle was a humbling moment. My goal is to replicate that vision and grow it and one day have Pedal 4 the Planet become a nationwide event.
I hope that you might become energized about participating in a future event and to meet you one day soon. Let's ride together, have fun and spread the word about the things we love, indoor cycling and the planet!
